However, this ongoing trend shows no signs of waning, as users continue to express their lack of enthusiasm for Instagram’s new animation resembling a ‘like’.
For those not yet familiar with the app’s revamped appearance, a helpful video is provided below to provide clarity on the matter.
The brief clip showcases a demonstration of the experience when a user likes a post on Instagram, causing a sizable heart icon to materialize in the top-right corner.
But wait, there’s more – the vibrant pink heart then takes flight up the screen, significantly disrupting any somber scrolling activities.
Understandably, this update has left users far from impressed, resulting in a notable decline in affection towards the application.
This development comes slightly over a month after the introduction of Threads on the platform, an offshoot designed to rival the newly rebranded ‘X’.
Ironically, however, a substantial number of users have chosen to channel their Instagram-related frustrations towards ‘X’.
Engaging in a heartfelt conversation about the evolving app, one user expressed astonishment at the exuberant nature of the new like button and its overly dramatic response, tweeting: “The new animation for Instagram likes is a bit excessive. Let’s tone it down a notch; I wasn’t THAT amazed.”

Another individual echoed this sentiment, stating: “Why is Instagram causing my likes to take flight across the screen?”
In the meantime, others directed their focus towards the depth of their dislike for the update.

A certain user even posed the question of whether this feature could be deactivated, expressing a similarly tepid response to Instagram’s recent overhaul.
“Is there an option to disable the animated heart effect for Instagram likes?” they inquired.
For those feeling lukewarm about Instagram’s latest update, there’s a straightforward solution: disable auto-updates for the app – that is, if the update hasn’t already taken place.
To do this, navigate to the settings and privacy section, then select ‘About’. Here, you’ll find the option to switch off the Auto-update function.
