Seamless Conversations Anywhere: OpenAI's ChatGPT iOS App Now Expanded to Canada, India, Brazil, and 30+ Countries

OpenAI has recently launched its ChatGPT app for iOS users in India and more than 30 other countries, just one week after its initial release in the United States. This expanded availability includes countries such as Algeria, Argentina, Azerbaijan, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Estonia, Ghana, India, Iraq, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Lithuania, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mexico, Morocco, Namibia, Nauru, Oman, Pakistan, Peru, Poland, Qatar, Slovenia, Tunisia, and the United Arab Emirates.

In a further expansion following the U.S. launch, OpenAI recently made the ChatGPT app available in an additional 11 countries. These countries include France, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, Nigeria, South Korea, and the United Kingdom.

Within just six days of its release in the U.S. on May 18th, the ChatGPT mobile app has already achieved over half a million downloads, as reported by app intelligence firm data.ai. This remarkable milestone positions the app as one of the most successful new applications. It has surpassed other AI and chatbot apps, as well as Microsoft Edge and Bing apps, in terms of downloads since its launch in the U.S.

The ChatGPT app is freely available for download and is ad-free. It provides users with an opportunity to interact with an AI-powered chatbot on their iPhones. Furthermore, the app supports voice input through OpenAI’s Whisper speech recognition system.

For users seeking advanced features, a subscription to ChatGPT Plus offers the utilization of GPT-4 capabilities. In the U.S., the ChatGPT Plus service is priced at $20 per month.

At present, the ChatGPT app is only available for iOS users. However, OpenAI, with the help of Microsoft and renowned venture capital firms like Tiger Global and a16z, plans to release an Android version soon.

This expansion of the ChatGPT app coincides with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman’s international tour, which aims to establish connections with global policymakers and gain insights into their concerns related to AI. Sam has recently held meetings with several European leaders and is scheduled to visit India next month.
