Urbanista, a Swedish audio company best known for its solar-powered earbuds and headphones, has introduced the Malibu, a new wireless portable speaker. The Malibu, like their earlier products, employs Exeger’s Powerfoyle solar cells to replenish the battery, enabling it to be powered by both artificial light and natural light from the sun. Additionally, the speaker is waterproof and resistant to sand, dust, and grime, making it perfect for the beach.

The Malibu, which costs $149, may be combined with another speaker to form a stereo system. It comes in black and a brand-new shade called Desert Gray. Dual 10-watt amplifiers and a 3,600-mA battery are housed in the tough construction. The solar cells can fully recharge the speaker, although USB-C charging is also supported.

Users can adjust the sound profile, monitor the speaker’s live light charging, and view historical data with an associated app. According to Urbanista, the speaker boasts a full day’s worth of battery life, giving it up to 30 hours of playtime. The business has tested how long the speaker’s playtime may be increased when exposed to solar light. The playtime can be increased by up to 15 hours while charging under ideal circumstances with 50,000 Lux solar light.

Other solar-powered speakers are available, but Urbanista’s model stands out because it makes use of Powerfoyle solar cells, which are extraordinarily effective. The speaker can continually recharge itself and increase playtime if the battery isn’t entirely depleted after a single use. To show how the speaker performs in various lighting environments, Urbanista shows three battery drain scenarios.

Urbanista hopes that the Malibu, which is currently under development, will be an extremely powerful solar-powered speaker. Thanks to the company’s careful efforts, power consumption is kept to a minimal even at growing levels.
