In the year 2023, Bryson DeChambeau has undoubtedly rediscovered his top form, showcasing an array of impressive outcomes. However, his performance at the LIV Golf Greenbrier tournament was truly extraordinary, as the American golfer recorded a remarkable score of 58!

During the course of Saturday’s play, DeChambeau was poised to achieve a score of 59. Nonetheless, a few pars towards the conclusion of his round meant that he had to settle for a superb nine-under-par score of 61. Moving on to Sunday’s play, he was clearly determined to excel further. With an impressive tally of 13 birdies and just a single bogey, he ultimately achieved a total of 12-under-par, thereby securing a spot among the elite few who have ever accomplished a score of 58.

This historic score of 58 marks a milestone in LIV Golf history, surpassing the previous record low score of 61, which had been held by Branden Grace, Matthew Wolff, and DeChambeau himself. Notably, Torque GC also etched its name in history by achieving the highest team score ever recorded in a LIV event. Mito Pereira, Joaquin Niemann, Sebastian Munoz, and David Puig combined forces to achieve an astounding 49-under-par.

However, the spotlight of the day was undeniably on DeChambeau, who crafted the most impressive round of his professional career. This feat eclipsed his previous best round, a 60 achieved at the 2021 BMW Championship while he was still competing on the PGA Tour circuit. The score of 58 also secured an authoritative six-shot victory for the 29-year-old, marking his inaugural LIV Golf title.

Interestingly, following birdies on the opening two holes, there was a subtle indication that DeChambeau might approach the elusive score of 59. This hunch turned out to be accurate, as he navigated through seven holes without registering a score higher than three. A sequence of four consecutive birdies propelled him to an impressive six-under for the day.

Naturally, this momentum eventually subsided, as a wayward tee shot on the eighth hole led to a bogey. Nonetheless, this turned out to be the highest score on the front nine, as DeChambeau promptly responded with a birdie on the ninth, completing the first nine holes in 28 strokes.

Having opted for a different driver for this event, DeChambeau continued to impress with additional birdies on the 10th and 12th holes. Consecutive pars followed, setting the stage for an exciting finale, where he needed three birdies in the last four holes to attain the elusive score of 59.

DeChambeau, however, exceeded expectations by notching four consecutive birdies to conclude his round. The highlight was a remarkable 40-foot putt on the final hole, solidifying his impressive tournament score of 23-under. This achievement placed him in the esteemed company of Jim Furyk, who also achieved a score of 58 at the 2016 Travelers Championship.
